Snapshot™ is a universal ATP testing device designed to help companies get more reproducible results and cut cost by up to 50%. Snapshot is designed to have the same sensitivity as the ATP test device it is replacing; but because of Hygiena's liquid stable reagent and patented design, Snapshot provides more reproducible results. Each Snapshot version is designed to emulate the ATP test it is replacing so there is no need to change current pass/fail threshold settings on the luminometer or within an established Quality Control Program.

Listed below are some common questions about Snapshot:
Q: Why is Snapshot so much less expensive than the test we
currently buy?
A: Snapshot's design and Hygiena's manufacturing expertise allows us to charge less for Snapshot. In addition, the patented design also gives some added benefits. To better understand how the Snapshot design equates to greater cost savings, let us compare the Charm's PocketSwab, BioControl's MVP and Biotrace's Clean-Trace test to Hygiena's Snapshot.

Snapshot uses 50% less plastic than other ATP tests and the Snap Valve™ design eliminates the need for additional compartments that require foil seals. This reduces raw costs, production costs and is more environmentally friendly.
Q: Why does Snapshot give more reproducible results?
A: There are two reasons that Snapshot gives more reproducible results.
1. Snapshot uses Hygiena’s unique liquid-stable reagent. By formulating the luciferin/luciferase and buffer together in a liquid-stable format, you eliminate additional steps that add variability such as freeze drying of the enzymes and a reconstitution step when the test is activated.
The Below histograms show the percentage variation of 60 test with the same ATP concentration. Test were run on two systems and then run with Snapshot.

2. The patented design of Snapshot allows the luciferin/luciferase enzyme, buffer and contamination collected by the swab bud to mix without having to puncture foiled-sealed chambers that may cause loss of sample. The diagram below shows the process that takes place with a test device with foil seals and Snapshot, without foil seals.

Q: If we change to Snapshot, do we have to change our thresholds?
A: No. With Snapshot you leave everything the same and continue testing the same way. Each Snapshot version is designed to replicate the test it is replacing. Since each test is a little different, we have made a unique version of Snapshot for each of the systems out there. To understand how we did this, it is helpful to understand how ATP biolumiscence reaction works. The graph below shows that as the amount of the ATP present goes up, so does RLU. It is a linear reaction on all instruments.

This next graph shows how Snapshot gives the same readings as the one it is replacing. Different dilutions of ATP were pippetted onto an ATP test. The results are plotted on a line. Then the slope of the line is determinded. Snapshot is then designed to have the same results and slope.

Q: How do I evaluate Snapshot against the current ATP tests I'm using?
A: Hygiena provides a Side by Side evaluation kits that allow you to compare ATP test devices in a controlled environment. Doing a side by side comparison with this kit should not take more than 30 minutes. To request a Side by Side evaluation kit call Hygiena or one of Hygiena's distributors and request one of the following kits:
SBS-CH1616 - Charm
SBS-SBC1575 - BioControl
SBS-SPXL1333 - 3M/Biotrace
Hygiena makes Snapshot test for the following luminometers. It is important to note that some luminometers require a retrofit cap to allow Snapshot to work correctly. To see the retrofit cap and how it works in a particular machine, please watch the virtual tours.
